What’s the Biggest Killer of  Your Dreams?

Take a moment to ask yourself exactly what’s stopping you from getting what  you want or being where you want to be. What comes to mind? You can  probably fill in that blank with just about anything. Money. Time. You name it.

Each day you tell yourself that there are things you simply have to do— obligations you have to yourself and to others that must come before you  pursue your dreams.

For example, let’s say you’re working a job that you really don’t like. Each day  you tell yourself that you have to go back to that job just because it pays the  bills, or because people will judge you for leaving, or because you’re afraid of  what might happen if you do leave.

You tell yourself that someday you’ll go after what you’ve always wanted…but  today just isn’t that day.

But why? Why should you put your happiness on hold or wait to chase your  dreams? You were probably raised to believe that sticking it out is the “right”  thing to do. That sticking it out in a job you hate proves that you’re loyal and  offers stability.

But is it worth your happiness?

Stop Putting Your Happiness on Hold

The longer you stay in a job that doesn’t invigorate you, the less likely you are  to ever leave. You’ll feel burnt out altogether. You’ll believe the sunk cost  fallacy: that you’ve already spent a ton of time and energy somewhere, so you  might as well stay put.

You’ll think it’s too late to leave.

Don’t believe the lie that you’re stuck anywhere. You have the power within  you to affect change every day.

Take a moment to ask yourself exactly what’s stopping you from getting what  you want or being where you want to be—but this time, be honest with  yourself. Start making moves that lead you closer to achieving your goals.
